The Department of European Affairs

a) coordinates

the following policies of the Ministry related to European affairs:

1.   the cooperation of the Ministry in drawing up strategic plans and promoting them at international commissions and committees of the Council of the European Union, European Commission, Council of Europe in synergy with ASEF and EUNIC;

2.   the preparation of the Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic for the presidency of the Slovak Republic of the Council of the European Union in 2016;

3.   the consistent implementation of the interests of the Ministry in drawing up the content of intergovernmental contractual documents related to culture and cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Slovak Republic concerning social and diplomatic matters which are in the competence of the Ministry of Culture;    

4.   the work of organizational units of the Ministry in performing tasks arising for the sector of culture from the membership of the Slovak Republic in the European Union, particularly the preparation of materials on behalf of the sector of culture and the participation of the representatives of the sector of culture in events organized by committees, commissions and working groups under individual bodies of the European Union, the European Commission and the Council of Europe;

5.   the cooperation of the Ministry and international organizations on governmental and non-governmental levels;

6.   the work of the organizational units of the Ministry in performing tasks arising for the sector of culture from international conventions;

 

b) ensures

1. the decision-making and coordination process of the Slovak Republic and the European Union in the competence of the Ministry of Culture in cooperation with the organizational units of the Ministry;

2. the performance of obligations and tasks arising for the sector of culture from international agreements, and intergovernmental and international documents related to culture;

3. the receiving of foreign guests to the Ministry;

c) manages and ensures the activities of the Ministerial Coordination Group as a basic element in the decision-making and coordination process of the Slovak Republic and the European Union; and

d) represents the sector of culture on committees, commissions and working groups under the European Union, the Council of Europe, ASEF and EUNIC;

e) prepares

1. proposals for the accession of the Slovak Republic to international contractual documents related to culture and ensures their implementation;

2. the annual plan of foreign business trips of the minister of culture, the state secretary, the Ministry’s chief of staff, Ministry employees and experts sent by the Ministry and the plan of visits of foreign guests. The plan is submitted to the management meeting and approved by the minister of culture. This plan is the binding regulation for sectoral planning in coordination with the organizational units of the Ministry;

f) cooperates with the Permanent Representation of the Slovak Republic to the European Union in Brussels, and the Permanent Mission of the Slovak Republic to the UN;

g) carries out

The 2nd evaluation of the foreign business trips of minister and state secretaries; and

h) coordinates
